Crazy Scots have hard heads for celebrations

Two Scottish rugby players are nursing sore heads today, and not just due to celebratory drinks following the team's upset win over Australia.

Scotland defeated the Wallabies 9-6 after fly half Greg Laidlaw kicked a penalty goal after the full-time siren at Hunter Stadium in Newcastle.

It was the second successive win for Scotland over the Wallabies and the players rushed to celebrate after the winning goal.

But winger Joe Ansbro and flanker Alasdair Strokosch leapt for joy from opposite directions and clashed heads.

The pair had to be stitched up by the Scottish medical team before joining their team-mates in the Scottish dressing room.

Farr-Jones heads NSW Rugby

Rugby World Cup-winning Wallabies captain Nick Farr-Jones has been confirmed as chairman of the New South Wales Rugby Union by the board at its May meeting.

Farr-Jones, 50, joined the NSWRU board in June 2010 and has held the position of interim chairman since the retirement of Will Jephcott in December.

His appointment follows last month's election of fellow former Wallaby and ex-Waratahs skipper Tim Gavin as president.

He will head a NSWRU board consisting of Christopher Birch, Geoffrey Garland, Arthur Laundy, Peter Medway, Paul Timmins, Peter Veenstra and Bruce Worboys.

Top NT rugby coach heads to Spain

The Northern Territory's top Rugby Union coach has resigned.

Paul Healy has been head rugby coach at the Northern Territory Institute of Sport for the past year.

He has taken a three-year contract at the Ordizia Rugby Club in northern Spain.

He will leave the Territory at the end of the week.

"The opportunity presented itself to get me back into a professional coaching role with rugby and also back into Europe where there is a lot of activity with rugby," he said.
