Wallabies lock and Queensland captain James Horwill has re-signed with the Reds and the Australian Rugby Union for the next two years.
The deal will take Horwill through to the end of 2013, a timely boost for the Reds leading up to Saturday night's Super Rugby grudge match against arch rivals New South Wales at Lang Park.
The 24-Test lock has made an impressive comeback from a devastating knee reconstruction, which ruled him out of the entire 2010 season after suffering the injury in round two last year.
Horwill, 25, has formed a powerful combination with rising Wallabies lock Rob Simmons this season as the Reds have surged to the top of the Super Rugby ladder on the back of six straight wins.
He has captained the Reds for the past four seasons after being appointed the youngest skipper in 33 years at just 22.
